The girls played in the Area 1B tournament this past Sat. The games were to have been originally played on Jan. 26 but were rained out. This tournament determines which teams (cities) within Area 1B (7 total) represent the area at the Section tournament in March. In the under 14 girls division only two other cities, Chino and Chino Hills, had all-star teams. But these two cities have always been competitive and are long rivals to the Diamond Bar teams. The girls came out strong, although it was questionable how well they would do. Half the team had been sick all week with a nasty bug that is going around. Anyways, the Untouchables beat Chino 4-1 and Chino Hills 2-0 (Dani had a goal) to be crowned 2008 Area 1B Champions! Now they move onto the All-Star Section tournament the second weekend of March. If you have been following along Dani's amazing soccer season, you will recall that her regular fall season team were finalist in the Area 1B tournament for fall. They (Purple Haze) too moved onto the Section tournament for fall teams and will be playing in March also. So the next two weeks for Dani will be busy. Stay tuned for more....
Dani's all-star team traveled to Victorville this past weekend for a tournament. The girls played well, even with the limited amount of practices due to the rain we had over the past few weeks. They won their pool games 4-0 (Dani scored a goal), 2-0, and 2-0. The team lost in the semis 0-1 and won the consolation game for 3rd place 3-2 (Dani scored a goal). The team is 2 for 2 so far in placing in each of the tournaments they have participated in.
